.A Message from the GSHA-SC Board Dear GSHA-SC members and the general public: Our chapter and society as a whole has been struck with a crisis that every person in the world has had to experience. We hope you and your families will be given the strength to weather this unwelcome tide of events. Since our meeting space at the Southern California Genealogical Society in Burbank will certainly be closed for large groups until the end of the year or beyond and you will only have access to our Hispanic reference books or monthly Hispanic Tuesdays until depending on the virus outbreak. To enter, you will need to adhere to the protocol of LA County and show proof of vaccination and being Covid 19 free to gain access.
Until then, we are still planning to have virtual meetings using GoToMeeting or Zoom. When we schedule meetings, they will be promoted with Facebook, Twitter, InstaGram, GSHA-SC Blog, and in some cases, emailed notifications. They are respectively http://tinyurl.com/GSHA-SCfacebook, https://twitter.com/gshasocal, GSHA-SoCal (@gshasocal) •(Instagram photos and videos), http://gsha-sc.blogspot.com, and seek out our private members only Facebook page by searching "Genealogical Society of Hispanic America - Southern California Group”, asking to join. "
We hope you will have patience with us as work through this transition. You matter to us. Thank you.
The Genealogical Society of Hispanic America – Southern California (GSHA-SC) was founded in 1992 to promote Hispanic genealogical and historical research with a focus on the American Southwest and Mexico.
Our goal is to expand awareness and knowledge of individual Hispanic culture, history, and traditions.
We encourage the sharing of information through:
• general meetings
• research days
• Chapter newsletter
• GSHA journal
You are invited to join our members who are searching for their Hispanic roots. We are affiliated with GSHA, a national entity, based in Pueblo, Colorado. There are separate Pueblo and Utah GSHA Chapter.
Whether you have just began to explore your family lines or you are an experienced researcher, please join us. We have members who are eager to help you begin your ancestral search and as a group we benefit from the knowledge that veteran researchers have to offer.
We are proud to represent a membership that is both willing and able to assist you in discovering a rich and colorful Hispanic Heritage . . . a heritage in which you can be justly proud.
